Allow me to elaborate on how bad things are here. 7 places are burning at the same time while in Μάτι and Κίνετα the fire not only burned trees but because off the strong winds(80 kilometes per hour) it burned houses, it burned people. Firefighters and volunteers do whatever they can with the little gear they have as always because why on earth would the goverment give money to firefighting vechiles, canadairs and literally anything else that could be useful in this country when we know that every summer someone wants to burn forests so they can build whatever they want. Anyways, people started running away once some firefighters managed to warn them to evacute ( something that others should have done because these people have to keep working so they can prevent the fore from doing anymore damage ). People started running to get to the beach which was their only hope, unfortunately some people with their families were trapped once the fire circurled the area around them leaving them with the only thing to do, wait for their end. Charred bodies were found locked in embrace the next day. Now the people who reached the beach had to wait there so they could be transferred from there to the port of Ραφήνα. Here’s a photo :

image

While the boats reascued people from the beach they also retrived 19 more from the sea and 10 bodies (I am not sure for the number). That’s a small peak off what has happened the fires haven’t stopped while there are many revivals of the fires. Here’s an article if you are interested http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-07-24/greece-fires-survivors-fled-into-sea-to-escape-flames/10031316

lucifers-embodiment

Let me add more information on the matter.

The deaths are officially at 79 by the most recent official announcement. Places like Mati, Kineta, Chania, Neos Boutsas and more are being burned to the core.

Minimum help is being given by neighboring countries. Officially 2 aircrafts from Italy and 2 from Cuprus whipe some are expected from Romania, Hungary, Spain.

There are abouy 31 people registred as missing in a web site while that doesnt mean those are all the people missing.

If you know people you know or suspect are missing call 199, the fire department.

If you are looking for someone missing don’t call hospitals, call 199, the fire department.

People got burned alive in their cars, in their homes.

Cars are literally melted by the fires.

The victims include children, thankfully the ones that survived are shocked, of course, but safe and in the hospital. The number of kids in the hospital ‘Παίδον’ (Pedon) in Athens is 11; 12 exited yesterday, and the kids left are expected to leave today.

The suspicion of the fires falls on arson. It something that Greece has suffered from a lot throughout the years. Yet we are never prepared for most of our problems whether it has to do with natural causes or not.

The situation is horrible. If you can’t help anyway else, reblog to spread awareness on the matter!

Don’t just accept the new Terms of Service

Tumblr’s at it again, thanks to the new European Privacy Laws. There’s probably nobody who will read this, but it pissed me off so much that I decided to make a post about it. (Ignore the weird language mish-mash, depending on your country the language might differ.)

OK, so many of us get this screen when we try to access our dash:

image

Realise how the ‘OK’ button is a nice, attention-grabbing blue? If you’re like me, you’re not exactly into reading a 100 pages document and tend to just click it.

My tip? DONT. Instead click on ‘Manage Options’ right next to it:

image

Now you’ll see this page:

image

Still pretty harmless, right? That ‘Accept’ button is looking really attractive right now. Instead, click on Verwalten (Probably something like ‘Manage Options’ or something in english) and you’ll get to this page:

image

Now that’s not too bad, right? I just switched all the buttons to ‘off’, because I’m jealously guarding my personal information and don’t want Tumblr to go off and do who knows what with it. Looks like we’re done! But wait: There’s a SHOW option.

When we click on that one, what we will get is this:

image

A HUGE list with OVER 300 ENTRIES of companies that can use your data by default if you’d just clicked ‘OK’ on that very first page. Coincidence that this list is hidden that much? Me thinks not. They’re all switched on by default, but I am still a petty bitch that doesn’t want to give out her data, so I switched them all off. All 300+ of them. There is no option to switch them all off at once, and even if you disable all the options above, the companies are still switched on.

(If you wonder how i got that number, I copied the list into excel and looked at the cell number. No way am I actually counting all those entries)

expatgirl

I too, am a petty bitch who unticked every single one.

bilboo

Anybody know how or if I can go and untick all of those AFTER I clicked okay the very first time bc I was tired and not vigilant enough

jessicameats

The way they’ve set this up strikes me as very dodgy in light of the GDPR rules, because some of those rules are about clear and active consent. You have to make it really clear what you’re using people’s data for, who you’re sharing it with, and what you’re storing, and you’ve got to make signing up an opt-in choice. By hiding all those settings and having them pre-checked, I think Tumblr may actually be in breach of GDPR.

rhube

NOTE: After you switch off all 300 options that are illegally defaulting to on (@staff that is the opposite of what you’re meant to do. Look forward to your hefty fine - the default should be opted out) you are taken back to the page with the ‘OK’ on it. TO RETAIN YOUR DESELECTIONS, DO NOT CLICK OK. YOU HAVE TO CLICK MANAGE OPTIONS AGAIN AND THEN CLICK ACCEPT.

SERIOUSLY @staff YOU ARE DIRECTLY CONTRAVENING THE RULES AND ARE GOING TO GET FINED.

Anyway, guess who’s not having to go back and redo all those 300 clicks that already aggravated my RSI?

jessicameats

I didn’t even notice that! Ugh!

Yep, definitely breaking the rules there. By having a system set up so that people think they’ve opted out when they haven’t, that’s a definite breach.

But on the plus side, if you untick all of the “what our partners can do” options, then you don’t see the list of partners because you said no to all of the partner actions so they wouldn’t be able to do anything anyway.

rhube

FURTHER NEWS: I’M NOT SURE IF IT WORKS EVEN IF YOU DO THAT.

I just went back into my Privacy and Data Management settings and they were all turned on again. If you uncheck cookies you are taken back to the same looping selection process and guess what? ALL 300 BOXES ARE CHECKED AGAIN.

The is ALSO an ‘Oath Privacy Dashboard’, which it says you can use to revisit your privacy decisions at any time. I suspect that THIS is where the real privacy management happens, BUT GUESS WHAT?

YOU HAVE TO AGREE TO SHARE YOUR DATA WITH OATH, TUMBLR’S PARENT COMPANY, IN ORDER TO DO THAT.

image

YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO AGREE TO SHARE YOUR DATA WITH A THIRD PARTY IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO MANAGE WHETHER TUMBLR SHARES DATA WITH A THIRD PARTY.

Someone who is a lawyer tell us how to report this and get Tumblr fined for 4% of their income. That’s what this massive privacy violation is going to cost you, @staff

jessicameats

This is the official website for making complaints about an organisation: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/

This would probably fall under Your personal information concerns:

“If you’ve had a problem accessing your personal information, or have a concern about the way an organisation is handling your personal information – perhaps they hold information about you that is incorrect, they have held it for too long, or they are not keeping it secure – we may be able to help you do something about it.“

They might not fine Tumblr - they might just explain all the ways they need to fix this process, but that’s a win too.

rhube

A way to report, at least.

If you’re not scared right now about losing net neutrality; You should be. Study up folks, or 2018 is going to fucking suck.

bitchasskillua

This isn’t my type of post but Net Neutrality is so important.

Forget your page’s aesthetic, share this with everyone you know. Without Net Neutrality, the internet itself would change.

Companies would be able to charge websites if they want them to load faster than others on your computer. This means that they would purposefully bottleneck speeds on every website that doesn’t have the funding to pay for it faster speed. There’s NO reason for this. Are you a small business with a website and can’t afford to pay enough to get faster speeds? Too bad. Are you someone with a personal blog? Slow page loading. Do you want to view a website written by a nonprofit organization for your school project? You’ll have to wait until the page loads because, since they’re nonprofit, they can’t afford to pay enough to cable companies so that their page loads faster.

An alternative to this would be having to pay for faster internet. Internet service should be priced by usage, not speed. For home internet, unlimited use isn’t all that expensive so it’s really common. You wouldn’t want to pay extra for more speed.

This would possibly affect the way that the internet works on other devices such as your phone, gaming system, laptop, tablet, etc.

We NEED Net Neutrality.

If a company doesn’t agree with a specific website, they could purposefully limit traffic to their site. This would be censorship, something that nobody likes.

There are many other reason as to why you should protect Net Neutrality.

This is an issue whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, Left-wing, Right-wing, young, old, male, female, rich, poor, etc.

EVERYONE SHOULD ADVOCATE FOR NET NEUTRALITY.

Guys, also think about he wider costs. Every business, school, hospital, pharmacy, first responder, government service—every single one uses the Internet. So, yes, the individual user will pay more for access, but so will the institutional users. The thing is, the institutional users aren’t just going to eat the increase in costs. They will pass them on to the consumer. They always do.

Education, healthcare, every single product and service, plus your local, state, and Federal taxes, will all GO UP.

Losing net neutrality will affect the cost of every single product and service offered in this country. Every. Single. One.

Last Wednesday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler announced a proposal for new rules that would allow for a “ fast lane” of Internet traffic for content providers who are willing (and able) to pay a fee. [1] The proposal reverses the FCC’s previous commitment to net neutrality and open internet and allows ISP’s like Comcast or Verizon to slow down and censor services that don’t pay the toll.

We have to be totally honest, this situation is seriously grim. But there is still hope. The FCC already knows that the Internet community wants net neutrality, but they think they can put their spin on these new rules and sneak them through. If we can prove them wrong right now with a massive public outcry, we can literally save the Internet once again.

We need to stop the FCC now. Big business groups are already ramping up lobbying efforts with the FCC in swarms since Wednesday’s announcement in support of censoring the open Internet and to ensure this dangerous proposal moves forward. [2]

This is a critical moment. In the last few weeks more than 65,000 people have taken action with us. Can you help us get to 80,000 by the end of the day today?

I try to keep the things I reblog as blog/mun-centric as possible, but this is something I just can’t let slide.

I’ve been following this cause since last year.  I’ve signed petitions, I’ve called representatives, I’ve been to protests, the whole nine yards.

This right here?  This is not a joke.  This is seriously happening, guys.

Remember the Wikipedia shutdown?  That was to protest this right here.  If you haven’t taken action against this yet, frankly, what is wrong with you?  If this doesn’t get stopped, we’re going to lose the thing that brings us all together unless we shell out huge sums of cash to these corrupt bastards.

Do not just sit there and keep browsing.

Do not scroll past this.

Fight.
